Prompted by hearing Lloyd speak at a conference, I sought out this book. Excellent scholarly work re. oral culture in Ireland in the 19th and 20th centurues, especially in terms of manifesting resistance to colonial rule and facets of postcolonial modern Ireland. Chapters on the Famine and on the hunger strikes of the Troubles are especially good.
