Super adorable. It's cute and short, not one of those college-anticipating books that make you nervous or rethink all your decisions.

NOTES: I WON THIS BOOK IN A FIRST-READS GIVEAWAYBLURB: Sonya Sones, author of YA novel What My Mother Doesn't Know, has written a nifty, witty take-off of The Night Before Christmas with her daughter Ava Tramer, a recent Harvard grad. This small-format jacketed hardcover takes a look back at all the stops on the route to college--touring campuses, prepping for SATs, writing the dreaded essay, getting the thumbs-up-or-down news, and finally, at long last, packing and setting off for the next chap [...]

The Night Before College - SO TRUE The Night Before College is a clever little book using "The Night Before Christmas" poem as the rhythm for "The Night Before College." It tells the tale of the agony of SATs, Common Applications, FAFSAs, and of waiting to hear if one got in to the school of one's choice. After the acceptance, it moves into the angst of packing and leaving home, and the rapid assimilation into college life that most college freshmen experience. The illustrations are clever and t [...]

***I RECEIVED THIS BOOK IN A FIRSTREADS GIVEAWAY********REVIEW: The night before college gave me more insight on the college process, and even some graphics of all of this happening! I am glad to receive this book, as we are studying the way to send in a application to college, and to visit them. Sonya Sones, and all of her corresponding writers/illustrators did wonderful with anything! I really enjoyed this short book, and I am glad to have reviewed it. Thank you once again!

This is a first-reads reviewA witty portrayal of the process high schoolers go through leading up to college. As someone who works with college freshmen, I see ways to incorporate this into our first-year experience. Maybe have students write their own verse or complete version or have them tell the story of the first semester. This was an enjoyable read and would make a cute gift for that graduating senior!

Cute, simple, going to college poem in the style of "Twas the Night before Christmas". Bright stylized illustrations a plus. Very quick read. Potential inexpensive high school graduation present for the young adult on their way to college. Hide some money in the pages to give them extra incentive to read it. Kids these days.

A sweet little parody of a famed Christmas story that perfectly coincides with the pressures I am facing currently through my senior year.

The perfect gift for the high school graduate about to attend college. This tiny book is a cute take on The Night Before Christmas, but focuses on school visits, taking the SATs, filling out the FAFSA, and other college-related activities. The cover is cute - “college” is written in typical collegiate typeface, with a boy hanging outside of a car trying to balance all of the stuff he’s taking with him, while mom and dad are in the front seat. The end pages are fun, too - laid out like a ga [...]

This is a first-reads review. This was a great fun way to explain the college process. It mimics The night before Christmas story but with the college process; picking up pamphlets, deciding where to apply, applying, writing essays, SATs, getting accepted, and finally packing for the big change of dorm life. I just graduated from college and am moving on to graduate school and this was just awesome. I think it is great for young students to read and understand that college is worth it. I simply [...]

My baby sister is leaving for college next week, and I think she would identify pretty strongly with this book.Sonya Sones wrote one of my favorite YA books (One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies) and her humor shines through in this one as well. This probably isn't one that libraries need to own, but it is a cute little present to give your newly minted college freshman.

This is a first reads giveaway read:Very cute book, made me reminisce about my own college experience. Perfect gift for graduating senior students. I also love that it was modeled after a commonly knew story.

cute take on the night before Christmas, but not really something I think I will put on my shelves. more a book to display and have my junior and seniors read for a quick laugh.

Its a cute and whimsical book. I expected it to be more enlightening about the night before college experience, which it isn't.
