With all the young adult fantasies out there that are basically regurgitations of the same story, it's rare to find a true gem that stands out amongst the clones. This book is absolutely that shining star that redeems the young adult fantasy category. Filled with interesting characters, an incredibly unique plot, and a steady pace that makes you never want to put the book down, I can absolutely strongly recommend this book to anyone and everyone, regardless of age.Sarah, the main character, is e [...]

Prelude is the first book in the Rhapsody Quartet and was graciously given to me in exchange for an honest review. Honestly I really enjoyed it. The story introduces a fantasy realm parallel to our own human world with fantastical characters and it doesn't try to shove too much information into one small space. I was easily able to understand the plot, get to know the characters, and preview a glimpse into a fantasy realm that will surely become a bigger part of the story as it continues in the [...]

This book is very different from most teen fantasy. I really felt intrigued from the very beginning and was hooked right away. The story of an awkward teenage girl going through a major life change is one we can all relate to. The fact is we are all a little bit like Sarah. But her discomfort and shyness is where the fun begins. She transforms into the siren she was born to be when she turns 16 and her shy quiet existence is changed forever. Sarah and her new friends have the adventure of a life [...]

Free copy provided for honest reviewPrelude is an original take on the fantasy realm and really stands out from the crowd. Although I like fantasy I have never really enjoyed the mermaid/siren theme, but this story has changed that for me and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.Lots of action teamed with realistic emotion made it impossible to put the book down and I loved the characters, which were particularly well-developed. Glen, the elf warrior guard who protects Sarah, stood out [...]

Interesting characters, though a somewhat useless main character, and almost a lack of a storyline. This is essentially an orphan trying to find out who she is with added fantasy elements, and people trying to kill her. The characters are really good, detailed with sustained emotion. Though the main character so far has done very little herself, very much relying on everyone else to save her life, which is fine, as long as this theme doesn't continue for too long. Looking forward to reading more [...]

Such a fun read! Nearly all the characters grab your attention, and I simply could not put this book down. I highly recommend this book and series to all who enjoy good storytelling, mythology, and a story you can get lost in for hours. I look forward to more from A.M. Hodgson!

I Devoured this book in one sitting. I love it! I have not read many siren books But, this is definitely one of my favorites. I can't wait for the sequel.

This story begins with Sarah and her foster mother in a lawyer's office. Sarah is receiving her inheritance today, just as directed by her deceased parents-seven to ten days before her 16th birthday. As the lawyer pulled out the items, one-by-one, I was drawn in by this strange assortment: a dulcimer, a ring made of opal, and a broken music box. No money. A short note from Sarah's parents was read, hoping she would cherish the gifts and find them useful(?) So, the mystery and adventure begins. T [...]
