Mina Kitchen was working as Santa’s Sidekick in the Mall; unable to find permanent work at least this gave her an income - even though she ended up covered in bruises and other “things” by the end of her shift. Mina lived with her cat Vinnie, alone in her apartment, while Vito, her next door neighbour, would let himself into Mina’s at 6am most mornings to make himself coffee. The current disaster at the Mall was a shortage of tape – everyone was panicking because they couldn’t wrap t [...]

I've been a fan of Janet Evanovich for years, and found Lizz Lund right up there with Janet. They have similar styles, and a comic flair. I loved the characters. They were quirky and funny, and yet believable. Mina Kitchen, the leading lady, always finds herself in difficult situations, short of funds despite herself, and her love life could use a little help (like Stephanie Plum). Often, her friends are part of the problem, but just as often they are there to save her. This was my first Lizz Lu [...]

A good book, but it wasn't as good as the first one. There were fewer LOL moments. I did enjoy it overall, and will continue the series. :)

This was such a confusing story to read. A lot of times I would read something and wonder where did that come from, did I miss pages, what is going on. As another reader said. It is random mishmash.

I had an extremely hard time getting into this book from the very beginning. The characters were not very interesting and did not evoke much of a response from me. It just didn't work for me on any level and left me not really caring about any of them very much. Maybe I will try another book at some time but this was not the one.Mina Kitchen is a forty something single who seems to find trouble. She has weird luck and her cat is even weirder.

First off, let me start by saying that this is the second book of a series but I was told it could be read as a stand alone. I have not read the first book, Kitchen Addiction, and never felt lost while reading Christmas Bizarre. The author briefly mentions events that happens in the first book, but with enough information to raise my curiosity rather than confusion. It made me want to read the first book and find out all the details. This Christmas themed book was comical, starting with the disco [...]

I am a big fan of Lizz Lund and found these two books to be a hoot. Mina, the main character, goes through a series of comedic and sometimes slapstick adventures. Her collection of friend and family are eccentric, but Mina never loses patience with them, even though they can inconvenience her or be demanding. Vinnie her cat is funny! He "sort of" talks and is an entertaining kitty. The colorful characters with a mystery thrown in keeps you hooked and reading at a fast pace! The recipes Lizz is s [...]

It's the end of the year and I figured I'd read some thematic stuff. Light and fluffy. This fits. Yeah. This is the second in a series and I haven't read the first. Usually in this type of book, it doesn't matter too much. But. There were a lot of things that just didn't make sense in this one. BUT it felt more like the writing was just bad and not that I was missing info from the first book. There were just lots of badly worded descriptions in this one. And the van? Named Doo-Doo? Seriously? No [...]

Sometimes, I confess, I feel I must have read a completely different book than other reviewers have! It was only a sense of sheer bloody-mindedness that made me stick this one out to the end, most of the time being spent in waiting for something even vaguely resembling a story to emerge. Yes, there's loads of allegedly amusing anecdotes (humour is admittedly a very personal thing) and happenings, but they're like a random mish-mash of incidents, 90% of which don't develop into anything. To be fr [...]

The author needs to get more to the point. The story could have been fun but it just drug on and on. The fact that the chapters are labeled days, yet it did not flow in the order of the chapters. This book was by far better than the first one. The protagonist is a female train wreck. We need more realistic female leads in these kinds of books. I found the recipes to be the grossest collection of crap I have ever imagined, no wait I never imagined this crap. At least the characters followed from [...]

A very fast paced Cozy that will keep you on your toes. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the characters. Mina Kitchen is a complex character who is a mixture of sass and workaholic tendencies and attracts trouble like a magnet. Her friends and foes are certifiably crazy but fun. There were so many twists and turns that I was not able to put the read away. I am reserving another time to read another Lizz Lund book because I know that I will not be able to put it away. A must for the Cozy Myster [...]

Christmas BizarreMona is working several part time jobs over the holidays after losing her full time job. While she longs for another full time job to pay the never ending bills, she is barely making ends meet helping out a Chef and at the mall as an elf for Santa. After over hearing two comments making arrangements to off another, her life is in danger. When she finds herself kidnapped, she has to keep her wits about her to get out of this jam. Interesting casts of characters- from the neighbor [...]

Cute, but a little scatteredI enjoyed much of the book. However, when the "mystery" portion begins, the transition is somewhat choppy and abruptly slams the fledgling romance to a screeching halt. The story could benefit from additional length in order to develop the plot more thoroughly and eliminate this problem. The characters are well defined, as is the setting. I would probably read again from the series and hope for a smoother story from beginning to end.

I'm 54% in and so far its one long chaotic bunch of comedic sketches in which new characters keep appearing before I've got the old ones straight. its like the writer was literally on uppers the whole time they were writing! A little downtime between situations would really be nice!Finished it. The actual so called crime didn't even happen until about 70% in. The ending is a blur of disconnected conversations that I think I was able to pick the solution out of.

I saw both bad and good reviews but I figured I'd give it a shot based on the word Christmas in the title. Some parts were funny wile others were over the top. I could see how this book be rated a 2 star and a 4 star so I wen with 3 stars. The build up was huge and the ending so quick. I got the personality of the characters down pat but it didn't seem important. I'm on the fence on reading more by this author- we'll see.

It started out with all kinds of stuff happening. I wouldnt want to be her. Non stop working and people at her house. Got a bit boring till the end it got more exciting. Didnt really hold my interest till towards the end.

Quirky and funny little cozy mystery. This lady seems to have our kind of luck, mostly just one disaster after another. Not much depth in the characters or the plot but all in all a fine read when you want something light.

Oy Vey!Mina (pronounced as the bird) said that, not me. This book is FUN!!! I wanted a Christmas book, and got this - and really did laugh out loud. Great book to lift your spirits when you're tired from Christmas activities. For the author: never, ever use canned sauerkraut!

Received free on . Cute story, a bit scattered to read tho. And no amount of apology up front makes up for bad spell checking.

OkaySome parts of the book I liked and other parts not so much. The characters are interesting, and Mina is a hoot. Would read more from this author.
