Jody Long’s first knitting book is a grand-slam! This book is everything a knitter wants in a book of patterns. There are 20 different patterns included. Each of them have clear, easy to read and understand instructions. The amount of yarn, other supplies and gauge are included to help new and experienced knitters succeed. There are smaller, easier projects like Squishy Beach Balls and Sebastian the Starfish. Some patterns have color work, which I personally love to do. The instructions are eas [...]

As an avid knitter, knitted toys are some of my least favorite patterns to knit. They are often difficult to follow, and produce awkward toys that don’t look much like what they are supposed to be. Often they aren’t meant to be toys at all, and require buttons and fasteners that can be choking hazards for children under 3. Flipping through Knitted Toys by Jody Long may have me changing my mind, however. Inside this book are 20 adorable knitted projects. There is even a duck with his own inne [...]

Knitted toys tend to get rather a bad press. People think old fashioned and twee, but they can be every bit as good as any other toy, and often much longer-lasting. More than twenty years on, toys I knitted for my two eldest kids are still going strong, and still get the odd cuddle! This collection by Jody Long is modern and fun, and illustrates everything that’s good about knitted toys. Namely, they’re child friendly, they’re versatile in that you can use your own or the recipient’s favo [...]

I reviewed this book for NetGalley. This is a lovely and useful knitting book for any knitter who wants to make a special toy for that special child in her, or his life. Or children!Jody Long's book, "Knitted Toys: 20 Cute and Colorful Projects" lives up to its name. These are really cute patterns, ranging in difficulty from beginning (the snake pattern) to experienced (the airplane). A toy pattern for every level, which is very important in a book such as this. And just in time for Christmas kni [...]

I was very excited to receive this book. This is for intermediate to advanced knitters. The item I most like, and will get the most use from is the eyes (just 5 rows) - a reusable part for MANY future projects. This book has some great inspirational patterns within it's covers. While the pattern selection is extraordinarye pictures are not as detailed as expected. The first pattern I knitted was the Toadstool, from the Henry the Hedgehog pattern. I knitted several of these in a variety of neon co [...]

I'm a sucker for a cute knitted toy pattern, so this book - full of 20 of them - immediately drew me to it. These are all so cute, and can be created by knitters of all abilities. I may just have to try all of them, although the fire engine, pig and cake, and gorgeous dog who reminded me of Gromit from Wallace and Gromit will be top of that list. The instructions are clear, concise, and cover all angles. Overall, a lovely pattern book.***Disclaimer: This e-ARC was provided to me by the publisher [...]

As soon as this book came through to me for review yesterday I had to open it and have a look. I am a huge fan of knitting and have recently started making my own knitted toys so I was really keen to see what this book had to offer. My favourite pattern has to be the ladybird and will definitely be going that one a go. A couple of others will be looking to make too and the patterns seem easy enough to follow. Nice layout and clear, clean sharp photos.

This is a delightful book that has 20 patterns of cute baby toys. The patterns are easy to read and the illustrations are colorful and clear. Many of the toys are knit in sections and then put together by sewing. I think any experience level of knitter will find something they could work on. Any grandma knitter will enjoy this book.

A delightful book with large detailed photos, clear materials lists, and good instructions. I have already chosen my first project, purchased the materials, and am confident I can produce Samuel the Snake.

Interesting easy to follow knitted toys. My favorites were Artie the airplane, Rio the fish, Ruby the Russian doll, Sebastian the starfishThanks to netgalley

The projects are undeniably adorable and useful. The book is entirely helpful. Kudos to the author and her creative insight.
