Crossing the world of prose and rock & roll can be a haphazard affair. The tendencies for hamboned cliches and characters about as fleshed out and compelling as a sinner starring in a Jack Chick tract. Etc. The beautiful thing about Leslie Bohem's novella, FLIGHT 505, is that while it is a work dealing with characters from a rock & roll, so LA world, it respects you too much to play you as some pulp reading chump. Smart storytelling, flesh and blood characters and a writing style that is [...]

Really enjoyed this book. Les Bohem has great style, and creates a gritty world full of excitement and heartache. Turns out he knows the LA music scene of the 1980's, having been part of it himself. What a rare treat to get this inside look at that world, and the people who make it, and the ones who don't. Plus, he tells a great story, it was hard to put it down. I recommend this book!

An excellent read! I raced through it. Bohem's writing is elegantly thrilling, humorous and moving. Flight 505 is not to be missed.

Billy, Al and Mickey were part of the LA music scene in the 80's with their band Vertigo. But Al and Mickey were left behind when Billy became famous. Decades later Mickey drags Al on a trip in an effort to reunite with Billy where he'll be playing his next concert and make the last dream they had as a band come true - play at Madison Square Garden together. This was a solid novella. The author created real characters and a vivid world filled with violence, drugs, hopes and broken dreams.
