So the metric system and American system that mixes in this book is because the writer is British. Of course. Loved this scenic, cold and dark short story. Wish it was a longer, or perhaps my life.

A fantastic novella from Ray Cluley; when I reviewed it on This Is Horror I said "a classic piece of arctic horror to rank alongside Dan Simmons’ The Terror and Michel Paver’s fantastic Dark Matter. A brilliant start for the Theatrum Mundi imprint and another home-run from Cluley."There's some good bonus stories included too, my favourite of which was the brilliant 'Turtledove'.

Another great book from Spectral Press (in this case from imprint Theatrum Mundi).I guess it could be said that this a DVD style release, as the main story was originally intended to be part of the 13 Ghosts of Christmas collection, but was given a life of its own here.So Within the Wind, Beneath the Snow was given its own release, which serves as the main feature while author Ray Cluley fills the pages with a number of short stories, extras if you will.It is easy to see why the main story was d [...]

I've always liked Cluley's short stories and to read something (albeit slightly) longer was a real joy. This piece is well-paced, compelling, understated, and well-researched. The horror is personal, marginalised but ever-present. The characterisation believable and the setting well-described. It's a great story and I look forward to reading a novel at some point in the (hopefully) not too distant future.

Great stuffAn interesting and atmospheric read from Ray Cluley. The author manages to pull you into the story immediately which is important, especially with short stories. I could feel the cold as I was reading this. It really is a great short. Some good flash fiction is included also. The best story being the last one 'Hans' A really sad but fantastic short. 4.5 stars.
