As I've mentioned before, the more I learn about history, the more I realize that there's so much I don't know. This book had detailed information, diagrams, and maps about world altering naval confrontations both familiar and obscure. My oldest child (Alex, age 8 1/2) checked this out from the library and could hardly put it down. He got in trouble for sneaking to read it while he was suppose to be doing other school work. Since then he has wanted to learn everything about steam engines and com [...]

I really loved this book. When I was about 8, I found this book in a library. I really loved it and asked for it as a birthday present. This book tells about all of the Naval battles from Greece to the Israel-Syrian war. My favorite parts about this book: the detailed battle descriptions, the maps that show the strategies, the detailed descriptions of the ships and the great pictures. This book is great information and easy to understand to almost all ages.

The book shows an illustrative description of Naval warfare though out the ages. It is an easy to read and understand book readable for both professionals in the field and first timers. The detailed illustrations in the book keeps it interesting to read and imparts a good amount of knowledge. Though some naval enthusiast might find it Not too deep in Technical detail it makes Naval tactics, techniques and technologies understandable for almost everyone.

the book has a large and important collection of navel battle and navel ships and weapons that are on them. if you are very much into the military or navy i highly suggest you read some of this book. i bought the book but it was around $75. this book is rather expensive. the book has a similar set up as a textbook. the over all out come of this book is read it.

Pretty pictures; interesting mini-summaries. However, some noticeable errors, the battle maps are rather unhelpful, and there aren't enough pointers toward further information if someone wants to know more.
